Louis Krüger

Biographical info

Louis Krüger was born in Upington on 25 October 1955. He studied Theology and Afrikaans & Dutch at the University of Stellenbosch. He moved to the Netherlands in 1984 where he was a Reformed Church minister in the parishes of Nieuwlande and Sliedrecht. He has been a minister in the Koningskerk Rotterdam-Feyenoord since 1994.

Krüger’s first novel, Die skerpskutter (1981), was awarded the Eugène Marais Prize.

Published in 1984, his novel 'n Basis oorkant die grens chronicles the war in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe). His novels Donkerboskind, Son op die water, Gevaarlike land and Herinnering aan Agnes have been translated into Dutch. His novel Wederkoms – die lewe en geskiedenis van Jannes Hoop, was published by Human & Rousseau in 2009.

Did you know?

In 1995 he was one of eight script writers of a Dutch television series, De laatste carrière.
