Helena Francina Lochner
Helena Francina Lochner (Aunt Molly) became a well-known and respected author of many children’s books written in her language, Afrikaans. She also illustrated the majority of her books herself. She was born on 15 September 1892 in Moorreesburg on the farm Bossiesvlei as the tenth of fifteen children. After being a teacher for twenty-four years, she retired in 1948 and went to live in Blaauwbergstrand, where she could give all her attention to her writing. She died on the 16th of July 1951.
